  • The transfer window ended on Monday evening with two rather unexpected signatures.

The promising Mohamed Simakan left RC Strasbourg, which recorded the reinforcement of FC Metz striker Habib Diallo.

  • If the sale of Simakan was expected, the purchase of Diallo is very surprising.

Especially considering the amount that the Alsatian club would have spent.

  • This last transfer has raised a lot of questions, even anger, among supporters of Metz.

What a last day!

Racing supporters live by rumors this last Monday transfer window.

At least two subjects are on the table, or rather on their Twitter thread: the purchase of Habib Diallo and the sale of Mohamed Simakan.

The two operations seem linked since the Strasbourg club does not seem to be able to afford the Senegalese striker without the transfer of his nugget.

One of the last episodes of the soap opera arrived shortly after 7 p.m.

According to

Le Républicain Lorrain

, often very well informed about FC Metz, the Senegalese international is well engaged with the Alsatian club.

He would have rallied Alsace against 10 million euros, with various bonuses.

The garnet club confirmed in a tweet that the player had gone to "other skies" but without giving the identity of the sky in question ...

🔁 After 7⃣ good years in Moselle, Habib #Diallo is no longer Messin and is heading to other skies.

🙏 The whole club would like to thank Habib for everything he brought in the garnet jersey 👇

A surprising purchase

This sum is a record for Racing, which had never raised more than 4 million euros (Djiku, Sels and Mothiba).

This breakdown of the ELP on Diallo is therefore very surprising, for at least three reasons:

1. The profile of the Senegalese international is very similar to that of the current incumbent, Ludovic Ajorque.

Maybe a little faster.

But hard to imagine the two lined up together.

Thierry Laurey could therefore bring competition into play ...

2. Habib Diallo's career plan seemed to go somewhere other than Alsace.

Arrived in Lorraine in 2015, he first especially shone in Ligue 2, even during his two loans in Brest (2016-2018).

Before blossoming completely in the top flight last season, with 12 goals.

The rest had to take place on the upper floor, especially in a club capable of paying the 10 to 15 million euros claimed by the garnet institution.

In any case, this is what had been imagined in Lorraine.

A "for sale" sign had been kindly put around his neck and his sale planned in the accounts.

Does Strasbourg constitute a higher stage in this ascent?

Doubt is allowed.

3. In modern football, rivalries have less meaning.

But that between FC Metz and RC Strasbourg still exists.

Movements between the two clubs are always subject to tension for supporters.

It was not lacking with Habib Diallo.

On Twitter, the #freeHabib tag flourished and one tweeter even posted a screenshot of an alleged exchange of messages he allegedly had with the player.

Where he explains that he would have been forced by the management of Metz to accept the Alsatian offer… How will the public of the Meinau react to the slightest failure of his new attacker?

We have 24 hours to prevent @FCMetz from selling @ habibdiallo575 in Strasbourg.

We have to fight like he fought for the club.

And even if that does not change anything, it will be raised to the ears of the leaders. # FreeHabib pic.twitter.com/wgn04JwD0K

Until we find out, the sale of Mohameh Simakan is still not formalized at the same time.

The 20-year-old defender is the subject of a forcing of AC MIlan which would have offered 15 million euros and would have even already chartered a plane to take him across the Alps.

The night for Racing fans is not over.
