Excluding Cavani from Uruguay squad puts an end to the "bomber duo"

The Uruguayan side, Edinson Cavani, the historic scorer for French club Paris Saint-Germain, was excluded from his country's national football team in the first and second rounds of the South American qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup in front of Chile and Ecuador.

Cavani, 33, finds himself without any team since his contract expired last June with the Parisian club, which scored 200 goals with his jersey.

Assistant coach of Uruguay national team Mario Ripolo raised doubts about the readiness and fitness of Cavani, who had not played any match for several months, and said, "In addition to the fact that we all know Eddie's abilities, this virus (Covid-19) has led to the suspension of his training program."

Cavani's last match with Saint-Germain goes back to March 11 in the Champions League competition, before the new Corona virus spreads in Europe and the world.

"La Celeste" coach Oscar Tabares confirmed last month the decision to summon Cavani to the 2022 World Cup qualifying matches

. Tabares said that "Cavani will be here! Because he is a very important player, and this weighs on any decision" regarding his inclusion in the squad in the future.

Cavani, who forms with his compatriot and new Atletico Madrid striker Luis Suarez, an explosive double in the world of roundball, has played 116 international matches, during which he scored 50 goals.

The Uruguayan national team will receive its guest at home in Montevideo, Chile, on the eighth of this month, before moving five days later to the capital, Quito, to face Ecuador.
