The former Chairman of the Status and Transfer Committee of the Football Association, Dr. Salim Al-Shamsi, confirmed that "there is no local player in the Arab Gulf League who deserves 200 thousand dirhams a monthly salary", describing the sums that the players are currently receiving as large, compared to the technical returns they provide, whether with Their clubs or with the national team, and he considered that the super player in the event that he did not achieve an achievement for his country or his team, then he is not considered a distinguished player.

Al Shamsi told Emirates Today: “It is assumed that the Players’ Status Committee, which recently formed a committee to study the issue of the players ’salary ceiling, will cancel the current salary ceiling, since it did not specify the desired goal due to the fact that there are clubs that did not adhere to the ceiling”.

He said that it is possible to change the current ceiling to become only two classes instead of four categories, so that the monthly salary of a player in the first category is 150 thousand dirhams, and the second category is 50 thousand dirhams, with the exception of the talent player by setting specific conditions.

It is noteworthy that the Football Association recently formed a committee to study the issue of the current salary ceiling, and the possibility of taking a decision on whether to cancel it or not, or make changes to it.

Al Shamsi pointed out that «all the previous amendments to the salary ceiling have reached more than four amendments, but nothing has changed, since there is no control over the matter by the Football Association, and there is no justification for increasing the current ceiling.

The issue of players ’salary ceiling has sparked widespread controversy, noting that the former Football Association adopted four salary ceiling categories, with the first category’s ceiling being 2.5 million dirhams, the second 1.8 million dirhams, the third 1.2 million dirhams, and the fourth 600,000 dirhams.

Regarding the extension of the transfer period, Salim Al Shamsi said that if it is completed, this will be in the interest of the players, indicating that the Football Association, if it has the intention to extend the period of (Mercato), then it must obtain the approval of the International Football Association, and continued: «I expect that The International Federation (FIFA) will not reject the FIFA request in this regard if it is submitted, due to several reasons, including the current circumstances related to (Corona), in addition to the fact that the new season has not started yet.
