Fans on both sides of Vidourle have been waiting for this match for months.

But the Languedoc derby, between Montpellier and Nîmes, scheduled for Sunday (1 pm), will be played behind closed doors, announces the MHSC, "with deep regret".

The Hérault department was placed in a heightened alert zone last week.

"Given the lowering of the gauge to 1,000 people, the club had no choice but to give up its audience for this meeting, not wanting to penalize or benefit some of its supporters," explains the Hérault club, in a statement.

Montpellier, which had sold all the tickets for this highly anticipated match in the region, is preparing to reimburse the supporters.

This decision which penalizes the public (…) once again penalizes the club financially.

"The MHSC is behind government decisions"

All seats had been sold.

The supporters will be reimbursed.

"The MHSC is behind government decisions and hopes to be able to once again welcome the public for its matches at the Stade de La Mosson in compliance with health rules as was the case during the first 3 meetings", notes the club.
