REPORTAGE

For at least two weeks, sports fans will have to take their troubles patiently in the big cities.

Since Monday, gymnasiums and sports halls have closed their doors for a minimum of 15 days in the eleven metropolises placed in enhanced alert zones, including Paris, Lyon or Nice.

But in practice, some clubs and associations have decided to defy the ban and counter this measure taken to fight against the rebound of the coronavirus epidemic.

Exile as a solution?

To stay open, other clubs play with words.

The sports hall thus becomes a "training center", free from restrictions.

On the other hand, for associations that use municipal gymnasiums, defying the ban is tantamount to saying goodbye to precious subsidies.

"We have no say at all," regrets Yohann, president of a badminton club in Ile-de-France.

"The only solution we have is to find a club in a department that is not affected by the restrictions in gymnasiums, such as Seine-et-Marne, for example. We ask for one or two slots, to simply continue and survive, ”he adds.

And if the situation drags on, the association undertakes to reimburse its members, at the risk of putting the club in danger.
