Who will be the new FCN striker?

  • The management of the FCN is looking for an attacker and perhaps a side in case of good opportunities.

  • As for departures, to date, it is dead calm for Abdoulaye Touré and Kalifa Coulibaly.

More than three and a half months, without any new head.

While the summer transfer window stretches this year until October 5 (next Monday), FC Nantes has not made any more transactions in the direction of arrivals since mid-June and the arrival of midfielder Pedro Chirivella.

The Spaniard and the defender Jean-Charles Castelletto are the only two recruits for the moment of the management of Nantes, which we have known very active (even compulsive) on the market.

The presence of Christian Gourcuff on the Nantes bench is not unrelated to this.

The Breton technician likes to rely on a small group and advance elements he knows.

“Recruiting to recruit has no interest,” he confided last week.

It could even be negative.

If there are opportunities to strengthen the group, even if I am not the decision maker, there is no problem.

It is always a plus.

Priority is an attacker

Before Monday, and even if there is the surprising outbreak of Kolo Muani in front, the management of the FCN still decided to make an attacker.

For weeks, offensive players have been seen on video, proposed or even surveyed.

None have yet signed.

At the beginning of the summer, Christian Gourcuff had made Roger Assalé (who signed in Dijon) one of his priorities.

Other avenues have been explored (the Brazilian Lincoln, the Croatian Antonio Colak and the Norwegian Fredrik Gulbrandsen).

Others have been suggested or proposed such as Steve Mounié (who signed in Brest) and Olarenwaju Kayode (who signed in Sivasspor).

Others could be mentioned, but quickly turned out to be unworkable (Darwin Nuñez and Alexander Sörloth).

Between them, the decision-makers of Nantes recruitment (from Waldemar Kita, Franck Kita, Mogi Bayat, Philippe Mao, Michel Audrain to Christian Gourcuff) have not always agreed on the different players.

The economic criterion also slowed down some cases.

To date, very quiet at the departures level

Nantes management could also recruit at least one side (more to the left) in case of good opportunities.

There too, many players were proposed without this succeeding.

A return of Lucas Lima was mentioned in August, especially since his club Al-Ahli had still not paid the amount of the transfer.

Sunday, we learned in

L'Equipe

, that the sum had finally been paid to the FCN.

On the departures side, the FCN management loaned Molla Wague (in Amiens, Ligue 2), Alexandre Olliero (in Pau, National), Elie Youan (Saint-Gall, Swiss D1) and Lucas Evangelista (Red Bull Bragantino, Brazilian D1), and sold Maxime Dupé (Toulouse, Ligue 2) and Quentin Braat (Niort, Ligue 2).

To date, three players are clearly on the market: Samuel Moutoussamy, Abdoulaye Touré and Kalifa Coulibaly.

The first two have no firm offer yet.

The third was offered in Dijon a few days ago.

Finally, Thomas Basila, at the end of his contract in June and lined up in reserve this weekend, would not be against leaving Nantes immediately.

Management have reportedly made a contract extension offer to the central defender.

As in the last mercatos, clubs could appear at the end for him.

Utrecht (Dutch D1) would be on the lookout.
