Granada.Farewell Unai Etxebarria
Last July, Unai Etxebarria, a goalkeeper from the subsidiary (Club Recreativo Granada) who had barely been called up on a few occasions and who never made his debut with the first team, caught everyone's attention during the celebrations for qualifying for the Europa League from Granada CF.
It was the shirt of the young man from Getxo that sparked the controversy - it read
"Altsasukoak aske" (Those of Alsasua free) and "Stop police montages"
- and the one that cost him, already in August, for the club to dispense with his services even though he had one year left on his contract.
This Monday, Valencia CF announced its signing, also bound for the subsidiary,
Valencia Mestalla
, of Segunda B. Etxeberria, 24, reported what happened in Granada to the players' union (AFE) and the case has been several weeks waiting for a labor court to decide whether the dismissal is appropriate or not, according to MARCA.
The Nasrid club alleged his departure for sports reasons.
Because that controversial T-shirt referred to the episodes that occurred in the Navarran town of
Alsasua
on October 15, 2016, when there was a confrontation between eight people against two off-duty officers of the Civil Guard and their partners.
The National Court ended up condemning the accused with sentences that ranged from two to 13 years in prison.
Granada came to open a disciplinary file against Etxebarria.
Unai, therefore, arrives free at the Mestalla.
And, after the controversy immediately unleashed on social networks, Valencia CF shows that no other circumstance that was not exclusively sporting never mattered in the signings made.
They are convinced that the goalkeeper will be very useful and will give
a quality leap to the team
.
And they have always defended the freedom of expression of all members of the club.
