American football legend saves his grandson from kidnapping attempt

American football legend Joe Montana and his wife managed to save their nine-month-old grandson from an attempted kidnapping, according to authorities.

The Los Angeles County Police Department said the couple encountered a woman who entered their home and removed the baby from a designated place in the home.

Officials said the couple were able to recover the child after a "fight" with the woman.

"It's scary," the former player said on Twitter, "but I'm grateful everyone is fine."

"We value our privacy respect at this time," Montana added.

Montana, now 64, has spent most of his career with the San Francisco 49 and is widely regarded as one of the best midfielders ever.

He was nicknamed "The Child of Return" during his glory in the 1980s, as he was famous for scoring key points for his team in the final moments of matches.
