The Swedish Figure Skating Federation voted for a new chairman during Saturday's annual meeting.

Helena Rosén Andersson from Lerum is the one who was elected, but it did not come as a complete surprise.

- I have understood that many wanted to see me as chairman, she says to SVT Sport.

She herself has been both an active figure skater and trainer.

For the past twelve years, she has been chairman of Lerum's figure skating club.

- That experience has meant that I have a very broad knowledge at the local level about what needs you have as a board, non-profit, functionary and member to make the business work and develop, she says.

"Important to review communication"

There has been a storm around Swedish figure skating recently with reports of misconduct, criticism of the board and the former chairman.

- It is important to see how the communication and cooperation between unions, districts and associations can be improved.

This is something that has received many comments in the last season.

Much of the criticism that has been made is that there is a lack of control and management of the business and a lack of support for associations and districts, she says.

Among other things, an external investigation has been carried out which showed major irregularities in the sport.

- It is very important to take what emerges in such a report seriously.

We must eliminate all types of malpractice, regardless of who is affected.

I would like to see that a priority will be to implement the action plan that was developed before the annual meeting, she says.

"I myself have never worked in any other way than non-profit"

Prior to the annual meeting, criticism was leveled at the former chairman, Katarina Henriksson, when it emerged that she had received large sums in fees from 2016. During the annual meeting, the members then decided that Henriksson was not eligible.

- I am content to state what the annual meeting has decided.

I do not want to comment on that anymore.

I myself have never worked in any other way than non-profit, what I see in front of me is a non-profit work on the board, says Rosén Andersson.

Katarina Henriksson announces in an SMS to SVT Sport that she does not want to comment on today's decision.
