All Japan Table Tennis Championships scheduled for next year for unattended spectators September 26, 23:28 to prevent new corona infection

The Japan Table Tennis Association has decided to hold the All Japan Championship, which is scheduled to be held in Osaka next January, without spectators to prevent infection with the new coronavirus.

The All Japan Table Tennis Championships are scheduled for January 11th next year in Osaka.

In order to prevent the infection of the new coronavirus, the men's and women's doubles and mixed doubles that were held every year will not be performed, and only the 4th event will be held, including the men's and women's singles and the junior's men's and women's singles competing in the second grade of high school or younger. It's a schedule.

According to the Japan Table Tennis Association, the number of participating players will be about 800 even if only the 4th singles event is held, and it is expected that more than 2000 people will participate, including training partners and coaches.

For this reason, it was decided to hold the All Japan Championship without spectators.

Ichiro Hoshino, Managing Director of the Japan Table Tennis Association, said, "Since some players will win the qualifying rounds in each prefecture, we decided not to reduce the number of players."
