Board members within the Swedish Figure Skating Association work non-profit with the board work.

The statutes state that you may not be an employee and at the same time sit on the board, that is, you can not receive a salary for your board work, it must be handled in your spare time.

But now a battle has flared up, which DN reported yesterday.

And it's about money.

The issue will be discussed tomorrow at the figure skating federation's union meeting.

And the conflict is infected.

Has received fees for assignments

In short, it is about the association's chairman Katarina Henriksson, who has been in the post since 2012, has been remunerated for assignments she received from her board in the figure skating association.

She has not formally received a salary, as it would be contrary to the statutes, but money has been paid for her assignments in, among other things, sponsorship issues, brand building and the work with the World Cup in Sweden 2021.

- I have had specific project assignments that were necessary.

We have had misconduct that emerged and the external investigation, we have changed sports director, we have changed general secretary, we have built up an organization for the World Cup and a large sponsorship work.

All this I have worked with during this time.

But now we have a union management in place, so now I have no assignments at all in the union, says Henriksson to SVT Sport.

SVT Sport has reviewed the figure skating association's board minutes from 2016 to 2019 and it says that Henriksson has been compensated for between 50 and 100 percent of the work she has been commissioned by the board.

The association's annual report states that between 1 July 2018 and 30 June 2019, Henriksson received SEK 440,000 from the association.

Between 1 July 2019 and 30 June 2020, the sum is SEK 632,500.

It gives almost SEK 45,000 every month.

"Far too much money"

SVT Sport has spoken to eight of the association's eleven districts.

Seven of them say that they were not aware that Henriksson had been paid by the union for assignments.

"It is not OK.

It is far too much money and there is also no information about what has been achieved for this money ", says a representative of one of the districts.

- We have no requirement to report it in the annual accounting principle that we use, so it does not follow there.

Now we have posted it anyway, we just have not thought about it before, says Henriksson.

Although the remuneration for the assignments does not violate the statutes, several districts find it inappropriate for a chairman to be remunerated to this extent for assignments.

“Even if you are not employed by the union, in this situation you will be your own employee in a way that is not reasonable.

I think it was appropriate to recruit someone else for these assignments ", says a representative of another district.

Wants to make Henriksson "not eligible"

Katarina Henriksson is the nomination committee's proposal for a new chairman for another term.

But according to information to SVT Sport, a phalanx in the figure skating association will try to make Henriksson not eligible for election at the association meeting tomorrow.

They will, among other things, refer to the financial compensation paid by the board without the districts being aware of the sums involved.
