Sevilla starts on Thursday evening with Luuk de Jong in the battle for the European Super Cup against Bayern Munich.

With the Germans, Joshua Zirkzee has to settle for a place on the bench.

De Jong makes his first playing minutes of this season for Sevilla against Bayern.

Earlier this month, the striker was on the bench in the exhibition matches with Athletic de Bilbao (2-1 win) and Levante (3-2 win).

Ivan Rakitic also appears at the kick-off with the Spaniards.

The 32-year-old Croatian midfielder ended his international career with immediate effect earlier this week.

At Bayern, coach Hans-Dieter Flick makes one change in his line-up compared to the league match against Schalke 04 (8-0 win).

David Alaba is preferred to Jérôme Boateng in defense.

Bayern and Sevilla can win the prize for the second time

Thanks to winning the Champions League, Bayern is playing for the European Super Cup for the first time since 2013.

'Der Rekordmeister' won the prize for the first time, after three previous editions (in 1975, 1976 and 2001) were lost.

As the winner of the Europa League, Sevilla is competing for the European Super Cup for the sixth time, but only in 2006 was won.

In 2007, 2014, 2015 and 2016, the 'Rojiblancos' missed out on the prize.

The battle for the European Super Cup between Bayern Munich and Seville starts on Thursday at 9 p.m. in the Puskás Aréna in Budapest and is led by the English referee Anthony Taylor.

The competition will also be tested with the admission of a limited number of spectators.
