In Germany, a decision has been made to allow 20 percent of the arena's maximum capacity.

Which means that the Nürburgring, which can accommodate over 100,000 spectators, will have an audience of 20,000.

The decision applies as long as the number of corona infections does not increase drastically in Germany and as long as social distancing can be guaranteed at the event.

Ticket sales started immediately after the authorities made the decision on Monday.

It is the first time since 2013 that you drive Formula 1 at the Nürburgring.

Mercedes Lewis Hamilton has won six of nine races this F1 season and has 55 points down to second and teammate Valtteri Bottas with eight races left.
