Donny van de Beek has a mostly bad feeling about his debut for Manchester United.

The midfielder, who came over from Ajax, scored against Crystal Palace on Saturday, but could not save his new club at Old Trafford from a 1-3 defeat.

"You certainly want to win on your debut, no matter how. I am very disappointed that we lost. It was very bad", Van de Beek said on the United site.

"We trained very well last week, so I was confident, but we played too slow and didn't let the ball go around fast enough. Against a team like Crystal Palace you have to increase the pace to create something. We didn't do that. good enough."

In front of empty stands, United trailed 0-1 halfway through a goal by Andros Townsend and Wilfried Zaha made it 0-2 fifteen minutes before the end.

Substitute Van de Beek did something in return, but the last word went to Zaha on behalf of Palace.

"After my goal, we believed in it again and we felt the fear at Crystal Palace," said Van de Beek.

"We have to get up now and correct this defeat next week."

United will come into action again on Tuesday, when Luton Town is the opponent in the third round of the League Cup.

Four days later, 'The Red Devils' will visit Brighton & Hove Albion in competition.
