It was almost déjà vu when Tampa Bay and the New York Islanders met in the sixth semifinal.

As in the previous meeting, an extension was required after 1-1 at full time.

And again, it was Tampa's backcourt Victor Hedman who scored the equalizer, this time in the first period.

But unlike the previous game, it was Tampa Bay who pulled the longest straw this time, after just over half an overtime period.

The match hero was Anthony Cirelli, and the final score was 2-1.

The game went on and on, although Tampa Bay was the team that shot the most.

The Islanders got a certain game advantage in the third, when they pressed for a lead goal, and Tampa Bay had a hard time resisting.

But an Icelander expulsion in the fourteenth minute of the period gave the Tampa players some respite.

Hedman had several chances in the third, including a shot that struck just outside the right cross.

A high Icelandic club with 23 seconds left of regular match time meant that Tampa Bay had to go into overtime with just over three minutes of powerplay.

Despite three shots on goal, it was Islanders Brock Nelson who had a golden opportunity to decide the match when he managed to twist the puck in the offensive zone and got a free kick against Andrej Vasilevsky in the Tampa Bay goal.

But in the end it was Cirelli who got the chance, when he placed in front of goal, got a pass from Barclay Goodrow and pushed Tampa Bay to the final.

Dallas, which previously beat Vegas, is waiting there.
