Sweden's best cyclist, Emilia Fahlin, got a slap in the hand during the Giro Rosa cycling race in Italy.

She continued cycling a full 150 miles with a fracture.

But then she had to break the competition.

"Tight with the World Cup"

It is now clear that the injury will stop her from the World Cup, which starts in Italian Imola in a week.

- There will be an operation tomorrow.

It is a spiral fracture that they have to go in and put together for it to heal.

Then it will be too tight with the World Cup.

It is too few days to come back, she says to SVT Sport, but continues:

- The positive thing is that after it has healed, I can train on a bicycle, and it opens up that there are some races left this year.

"Takes about ten days"

The 31-year-old hopes to be able to train and compete again pretty soon.

- It takes about ten days to heal from the operation itself and then be able to use the hand.

Then it should not be so far from being back and competing, says Fahlin, who finished fourth in the WC line race as late as 2018.
