FIFA: More than 150 federations have requested support in light of the Corona crisis

The official in the distribution of aid to clubs affected by the Corona virus pandemic in the International Federation, Finnish, Olli Rehn, said that (FIFA) has received more than 150 requests from member national federations to obtain financial support of $ 1.5 million from the Corona Crisis Relief Fund.

During a conference held today via teleconference (video conference), Raine said: Payments of the value of the financial support have already been transferred to member unions.

In late July, the FIFA Council approved the regulations for a relief plan for member federations, and Raine confirmed that all the money comes from the IFRC funds.

Each association can obtain a grant of $ 1.5 million, with $ 500,000 allocated to football for women, before January 2021.

Each national association is also entitled to apply for interest-free loans of up to five million dollars, for activities including the resumption of competitions and the implementation of return protocols.

Renn said that the Corona crisis has cost global football $ 14 billion, and this includes national associations and youth academies, but does not include clubs at the international level.

Finn added that football in South America and Africa has been affected more by the crisis than Europe.

Rehn also stressed that the mechanism for using support funds would be closely monitored, with some unions complaining about strict compliance rules.

"Corruption has no place in FIFA. So we have to ensure that support is used properly," added Rain.
