He has played 1200 matches and is looking to continue to shine

Ali Al Hatawi is asking for more basketball titles at the age of 41

The dean of basketball players, captain of Al-Nasr team, Ali Al-Hatawi, affirmed that reaching the age of 41 does not stand in the way of achieving his ambitions of winning more titles, and that the passion for competing challenges and winning matches is behind his constant keenness to follow a strict training program that allows him to continue and shine in the basketball courts.

Al-Hatawi told Emirates Today that: “Passion in the world of basketball and winning titles is the motivation behind my continuing to play, despite my long career in the game, when I started with the youth club, and I achieved many achievements with him in various age stages, and I followed them by moving to Al Wasl in 2017, and completed my contract with Al-Nasr early last season.

He explained: “Despite my retirement from playing internationally four years ago, the feeling of winning still drives me to exert more effort, to achieve my ambitions and win titles, in the same way as my ability when I move to Al Wasl to win more tournaments, the last of which was the President's Cup 2018, and I look forward with My current team Al-Nasr to continue the achievements, and to help the team, at the end of this month, to complete the final rounds of the men's league, and to give the club basket its first historic title in this tournament.

Despite his long career that extends to nearly 1200 matches, Al-Hatawi is still passionate about winning, and his connection to the game will continue, after making the decision to retire, to go to the training corps, and the text of the dialogue follows.

I am inspired by many experiences for players who have reached the age of 40, and are still stars in their clubs and national teams, most notably the Spaniard Paul Gasol, through relying on a health program, whether in terms of food or training, which helped me over the past years to lose weight significantly and enjoy physical fitness Required to play matches and compete for titles.

I have a long relationship with coach Ahmed Omar, and we made many achievements in the Al Shabab basket, before we moved together to Al Wasl, and we crowned the President's Cup in 2018, and I constantly followed the relationship by moving to victory, as the able coach Ahmed Omar knows how to use my abilities to serve the team. And when I have to be on the pitch, the moments when I have to rest, and he is always behind my shine.
