It was in December last year that Frida Karlsson was stopped from competition for health reasons.

It was a message that took a heavy toll on the Swedish star.

- You are in a bubble and completely set on competing.

It becomes a bang when all the focus changes.

I was very tired and worn out.

Everything became an obstacle.

Waking up was tiring.

Getting up was tiring.

It came to a point when I had to do something, says Karlsson to Dagbladet.

The 21-year-old says that she came out of the difficult period stronger.

- I had to use the driving force for a new focus, to get the body in balance and invest in the future.

I learned a lot from the whole situation.

It is in adversity that you become mentally stronger, she says.

Karlsson finished the season very well and in what became the last race of the season, she beat the Norwegian star Therese Johaug in the 30 kilometer classic in Oslo.
