After the butcher's shop the day before, the peloton started the stage on a train of senators.
A small group takes the opportunity to easily detach themselves on the first climb of the day, the short but very steep hill of the Château d'Aulteribe.
Cosnefroy is, of course, attracted by the points of the Col du Béal (2nd category) which comes next - among others.
He is accompanied by a few men who parked quickly yesterday, such as Gendt, Bauer, Politt and Pacher, but also Sagan, who is aiming for the only intermediate sprint of the day and the 70 points awarded at the finish.

We meet again with pleasure after the beautiful emotions of yesterday.
We saw a real beautiful stage of the Tour, even if it really did not smile on the French.
Less spectacle to be expected today between Clermont and Lyon, but a really difficult route, casually.
This morning, the riders must curse the men who drew this Tour de France.
The day after a stage where it never stopped in the heart of Auvergne and on the eve of arriving at the top of the very difficult Col du Grand Colombier, they cannot even say that they will be entitled to a cushy step to recharge the batteries.
Of course, the route du jour between Clermont and Lyon offers much more respite, but it won't be a long quiet river either.
You will have to do three beautiful climbs, including the long Col du Béal, before the breakout arrival in the streets of Lyon.
In short, there is still plenty to do for those who will have the courage to go.
