Swimming Rikako Ikee Participation in the Japan Student Championship next month will be decided on September 12th, 20:30

Rikako Ikee, a swimmer who returned to the competition last month, has decided to participate in the Japan Student Championship next month, which was her immediate goal.

Ikee, who has been aiming to return to the competition from leukemia, participated in the competition held in Tokyo last month for the first time in about 1 year and 7 months, and participated in the women's 50-meter freestyle next month as necessary for participation in the Japan Student Championship. We set a time of 26.32 seconds, which broke the standard record.

Regarding this year's Japan Student Championship, the Japan Swimming Federation limits the number of athletes who can participate in order to reduce the risk of infection with the new coronavirus, and the women's 50-meter freestyle that Ikee entered is in the top 40. Due to the need to enter, the entry for the competition was closed on the 11th.

As a result, Ikee's provisional ranking was 17th, which means that he was sure to participate in the Japan Student Championship.

Ikee entered Nihon University in April last year when he was hospitalized for the treatment of leukemia, and last year's tournament was temporarily discharged and visited the venue.

After the tournament, he commented, "I was really disappointed that I couldn't make it, so I will definitely revenge again." It has been my immediate goal.
