19 sumo wrestlers infected with Corona virus in Japan

An outbreak of the new Corona virus at a training center for sumo fighters in Japan has infected 19 of those with the virus, according to what the body that manages this traditional Japanese sport announced today, confirming to proceed with the establishment of a scheduled session on Sunday.

The Japanese Sumo Association stated that 19 of them tested positive for Corona, which was conducted for a number of "Tamanui" wrestlers.

She indicated that 12 of them were hospitalized for treatment, while the others committed to home quarantine due to the absence of symptoms on them.

These injuries were recorded after the injury of a wrestler last week and the appearance of symptoms, which prompted the "Tamanoy" team to conduct tests for thirty-two wrestlers who contacted him.

None of the team's wrestlers will participate in the two-week tournament scheduled for Sunday in Tokyo.

The sumo wrestler died of infection with the Coronavirus on May 19, and he is the first Sumo wrestler to die as a result of the pandemic.

The emergence of this focus comes at a time when Japan has witnessed since last August an easing of health measures in light of the decline in the daily number of new infections.
