A coalition of over 160 different human rights organizations working for human rights has written a letter demanding that the 2022 Winter Olympics be moved to another country.

Peter Reinebo, operations manager at the Swedish Olympic Committee (SOK), had not taken part in the news when SVT Sport contacted him - but is not particularly surprised.

- It's not unexpected.

It was the same before the Olympics in Beijing in 2008. In the years before the Games and onwards, that communication window was used to illuminate shortcomings in the Chinese treatment of animals, humans and other states, he says, and continues:

- So that it would come sooner or later I had expected.

Do you think there is any possibility that the games will be moved?

- No I do not think so.

It's not a new phenomenon you shine on.

On the other hand, these are serious remarks, and they were the same remarks before 2008. I can imagine that some of these things have a positive development in China, but some others certainly have a negative development.

- So our task will be to gradually from now on read us into the current situation in China more than you normally do to have a little more on your feet.

But to move the games from a country that has received it, without anything dramatic happening or becoming an urgent change, I do not think will be done - without those considerations, I think were already there when China was awarded the games.

"Obligation to participate"

Reinebo also explains that some boycott of the China Games is on the Swedish map.

- It is our duty to participate in the games.

We see it instead as being able to contribute by participating in the games, so that important issues are highlighted, he says.
