Tampa Bay put pressure on the New York Islanders immediately.

After just over a minute, Brayden Point took command and started the goal party with a one-man show when he brought the puck from his own defensive zone in front of Iceland's goalkeeper Thomas Greiss and put 1-0 in the box.

- We had not played in a week and thought about how the start would be, and then Point went out and did something like that.

He set the tone from the beginning, together with Nikita Kucherov and Ondrej Palat once again.

They were incredible.

But Brayden Point has taken it to another level, says Victor Hedman after the match, according to nhl.com.

Great exchange

Thomas Greiss in the Islanders goal got a nightmare start - with three goals conceded in just under eleven minutes, he was replaced already in the middle of the first period against Semjon Varlamov - who also failed to stop Tampa Bay's goal scorer.

- It is going very well right now, but it is because of the team, says Brayden Point after the match and continues:

- We play so well.

We play with structure, we are responsible with the puck, we fit right.

Point became one of the match heroes together with teammate Nikita Kucherov, as both scored five points each.

Point scored two of the goals and three assists, while Kucherov accounted for one goal and four assists.

However, their teammate Victor Hedman was not much worse with his total of three points - one goal and two assists.

"Runs off us"

The Islanders got the hope up with a 1-1 goal in the fifth minute of the match, but it was crushed just a few minutes later when Hedman pulled off a spotless hard shot and put 2-1.

It was the 29-year-old Swede's sixth goal in this year's Stanley Cup play-off.

The goals then continued to roll in for Tampa Bay.

The Islanders scored a consolation goal in the middle of the third period, but Yanni Gourde ended the goal party shortly afterwards by setting his second goal of the evening, played by Victor Hedman, and the final score was 8-2.

- This loss flows from us, says Islanders coach Barry Trotz.

The victory means that Tampa Bay leads the semifinal series in the best of seven games with 1-0.

The next meeting between the teams will be played the night before Thursday, Swedish time.
