Karsten Warholm, 24, started the race well, but he tripped to the ninth hurdles and thus lost the pace.

When he reached the finish line in 47.62, he struck out with his arms and looked resigned.

- It's a little surprising.

What is not working?

I think he's asking himself that right now.

I do not know if he pressed so hard that he came too close, says Kajsa Berqvist.

47.62 is just under a second from Young's world record of 46.78.

In the Diamond League gala in Stockholm earlier this summer, Warholm ran 46.87.

Bergqvist still believes that the Norwegian can break the record in the future.

- It must work perfectly.

He has the form there.

This is an incomparably good time in all contexts except this, when he was here to break that world record, says the expert.

Warholm must try to set a new world record at least twice this season.

He will run at the Diamond League gala in Rome and at the Norwegian championships.
