Determine the date of the return of sporting activity in Iraq

The Iraqi Minister of Youth and Sports Adnan Darjal announced today, Monday, that the Supreme Committee for Health and National Safety has approved the resumption of sports activities in the country, starting from September 12, after a suspension of more than five months due to the emerging Corona virus pandemic.

"The Supreme Committee for National Health and Safety has approved the return and resumption of sporting activities as of next Saturday corresponding to the 12th of this current September, taking into account the importance of adhering to preventive health measures and social distancing rules regarding the prevention of the Corona virus," Darjal stated.

"The days leading up to the return of sports activities will be an opportunity for clubs and sports federations to prepare and prepare for the return of activities. We urge everyone to continue following the official health guidelines in order to preserve the safety of society," Darjal added.

And all sporting activities in Iraq have stopped since last March 11 due to the outbreak of the new Corona pandemic, which caused the cancellation of the football league competition for the 2019-2020 season.

It is not clear when the new football season will start, which was previously set by the temporary administration of the Iraqi Football Association on the twentieth of this month, because most of the participating clubs have not completed their preparations.

The provisional authority has not yet conducted the draw for the new season of the league, although last August 29 was set as the date for it.
