Vegas had three chances to take home the quarterfinal series against Vancouver, and advance to the semifinals.

But after two straight losses, they had only the last chance left tonight.

They took it.

"Great team effort"

They won 3-0, and thus have to face Dallas in the semifinals.

- I think we made a great team effort.

I think we controlled a large part of it.

We did not give them very many chances, and that is a good thing before the semifinals, says Shea Theodorem according to the NHL's website.

Giant rescue by Lehner

Theodore was the one who started the shooting, when after a quarter of an hour of play in the third period and only five seconds into a numerical superiority, he threw a puck from a defensive position that looked past a hidden Thatcher Demko - who again had to guard the goal in injured Jacob Markström's absence.

In addition to Theodore, Robin Lehner had to take on the big match-winning role.

Although he received "only" 15 shots on himself, one of them forced him to a rescue of the more difficult kind.

Tangled NHL record

Quite exactly halfway into the match, Brock Boeser got an almost open goal after a pass from Bo Horvat, but Lehner lay down and managed to save with a magnificent pick.

"I know they say I can not stop shots from far away but the big guy can move whenever he wants," Lehner said after the match, according to Hockeynews.

Lehner's zero was his third in the quarterfinal series, which is close to the NHL record.

14 other goalkeepers have done so, most recently Michael Leigthton who kept a clean sheet three times for Philadelphia in the semifinal series against Montreal in 2010.

In the semifinals, Vegas will face Dallas.
