… Many people have started to take up these challenges.

It made this sport accessible to everyone, ”enthuses Arnaud Sérié.

The 32-year-old golfer, a former business school student in Nice, has become the star of French golf online with his trickshot videos, even more with the health crisis linked to Covid-19.

On Twitter, Facebook, Instagram - where he has nearly 50,000 subscribers - this enthusiast challenges his subscribers to do a trickshot, that is to say to put a ball in a cup.

“This golf 2.0 is quite popular in the United States.

It's entertaining and it's another way to play it, I found it fun, ”explains Arnaud Sérié who, until last March, went to Florida every two months to see his golfing friends.

“It's a technical sport, sometimes frustrating and this 'challenge' side where you have to make improbable and complicated shots, it's funny.

I brought this back to Europe over two years ago, ”he adds.

And from March, when everyone is confined to their homes, his videos explode.

“It has grown, the videos have gone viral.

It's unusual so it appeals to people.

"For less than 100 euros, we can have complete equipment"

By highlighting other aspects and giving a different image of golf, Arnaud Sérié hopes to convert the uninitiated to this practice.

“I am not from this world.

And for the record, I myself started playing it by chance with a friend.

While we were fishing, we started to play with a shovel, a ball and we dug a hole in the sand.

I started this sport while having fun.

"

"Today for less than 100 euros, we can have almost complete golf equipment," said the young man who wants to deconstruct the image of practice.

“There are a lot of stereotypes around golf and people put on the brakes.

I'm trying to break all these codes.

Behind these videos there is a cool and less stuck approach, ”he says.

"A rejuvenation of registrations"

And this “democratization” of sport is supported by the French Golf Federation, which “communicates positively” on Arnaud's work.

Because behind the videos there are “five, six hours of training”.

For Arnaud, there is no doubt, “the golf of tomorrow is a golf course which tends to be accessible to a greater number of people”.

“The average age of registrations today tends to be younger,” he concludes bluntly.
