Briton Adam Yates grabbed the yellow jersey on Wednesday 2 September after Frenchman Julian Alaphilippe (Deceuninck) was sanctioned by the jury of commissioners.

The latter received a penalty which made him lose the yellow jersey to the benefit of the Briton, the organizers announced.

Alaphilippe received a 20-second penalty for unauthorized refueling in the final of the stage leading to Privas.

Wout Van Aert won the 5th stage

Belgian Wout Van Aert won the fifth stage of the Tour de France.

Winner in Albi during the Tour-2019, he sprinted ahead of Dutchman Cees Bol (Sunweb) and Irishman Sam Bennett (Deceuninck-Quick Step), over the 183 km between Gap and Privas.

“It didn't play out much. I only won a half-wheel, but it was enough. I knew it was a good stage for me. I'm glad the team gave me this opportunity, ”he explained after his victory.
