Ali Maher to succeed Al-Ashary in the training of Al-Masry Al-Port Said

The Board of Directors of the Egyptian Port Said Football Club announced yesterday the appointment of Ali Maher as technical director of the team to succeed Tariq Al-Ashry, who resigned from his post due to poor results.

Maher begins his mission with Al-Masry Al-Youm by leading his training at his closed camp, which is currently located in Burj Al-Arab, in preparation for the confrontation of the Arab Contractors Thursday at the Army Stadium in the twenty-fourth stage.

Al-Ashry resigned two days after Al-Masry lost to Al-Ahly 0-2 in the twenty-third stage.

Al-Ashry sent a message to the Egyptian players in which he confirmed that he hoped to achieve good results with the team, but he was unable to do so, adding that he felt "betrayed from within the club, and as a result he decided to leave Al-Masry."

Al-Masry is in 16th place with 21 points, with three matches postponed due to the infection of 21 members of the team with the new Corona virus.

Al-Ashry took over his mission last March, after the dismissal of Ihab Jalal for poor results.

Al-Ashry led the Al-Masry team in six matches in various competitions, during which he did not achieve any victory, and was defeated four times by Zamalek (0 -1), Masr Al-Maqsas (0 -2), Al-Ahly (0 -2) in the league and Nahdet Berkane Al-Maghribi (0 -1) in The second leg of the African Confederation Cup quarter-finals after a 2-2 first-leg tie.

It was his second draw with Al-Masry after the first with FC Egypt in the local league.
