A member of the Football Association’s Status and Transfer Committee, the official spokesperson for the committee, Counselor Yaqoub Al-Ali, revealed that the Football Association has formed a committee to review and study the players ’salary ceiling. He said that there is a tendency to change or cancel it, stressing that there is no intention to place a clause in the regulation on players' contracts that gives the club the right to reduce salaries.

Al-Ali told «Emirates Today» that if it is proven to have violations in the players ’contracts, it will refer the violation to the Dispute Settlement Committee of the Federation to take the appropriate action according to its competence.

At the same time, he stressed that there were no complaints from national or foreign players against their clubs regarding salary cuts, and said that “the decision of the Football Association regarding salary cuts was made in accordance with the policies and directions of the International Federation, by giving clubs the opportunity to negotiate with players about reducing salaries during the suspension of activity. The athlete due to the (Corona) pandemic ».

It is noteworthy that the previous Football Association set four categories of players to be applied to the ceiling of salaries, so that the maximum limit in the first category during one season does not exceed 2.8 million dirhams, the second 1.8 million dirhams, the third 1.2 million dirhams, and the fourth 600 thousand dirhams.

Al-Ali said that the recent salary cut decision ended with the resumption of sporting activity in the country.

He also stressed that all contract transactions are carried out through the electronic system of the Registration and Registration Department of the Football Association.

He explained that the decision to reduce salaries was issued due to the exceptional circumstances of the "Covid-19" pandemic, and that the committee did not make any changes to the formulas of the new contracts concluded between clubs and players.

He also stressed that the committee had not studied the possibility of putting in place a clause in the new contracts that would give the club the right to automatically extend its player's contract, without referring to the Football Association or the Players' Status Committee if it ended in emergency circumstances, as happened recently.

He also said regarding setting controls in the transfer market, to control the process and prevent exaggeration, that “this matter is up to the clubs, without interference by the federation, and he said that the union seeks cooperation with all parties, including the association as well, and that the relationship is complementary, indicating that coordination is taking place. On an ongoing basis when issuing the circular or regulations, and upon reviewing any of the provisions in the Federation.

Regarding the provision of a detailed explanation of the process of registering and registering players during the current transfers, and how the procedures related to this matter are carried out, he confirmed that a request is submitted by the clubs and the required documents are attached in accordance with the annual circular, then the application is reviewed by the Registration and Registration Department and the action is taken according to the conditions.
