So far this year, tennis' world-class Novak Djokovic is unbeatable. The victory in the Cincinatti Masters, moved from Ohio to New York due to the security apparatus around covid-19 before next week's US Open, means that he has 23-0 in matches in 2020.

It also means that he has now won all nine Masters tournaments, the level closest to the grand slam, at least twice. No player other than Djokovic has won all nine Masters at all.

It was his 35th Masters title and he thus also touched Rafael Nadal's record.

In the final against Milos Raonic, Canada, however, the Serb began tentatively. Raonic won the first set clearly, 6-1, and had the world set in rocking.

But just like in the semifinal against Roberto Bautista Agut, Djokovic turned the tables. He won the second set 6-3 and then put the decisive blow in the fifth game of the third set. There Djokovic got several break balls and at 30-40 he showed his speed when he fished up a deep and difficult straight backhand from Raonic, who could not answer but hit the ball into the net.

Then it was a freeway to the title for Djokovic, who kept his serve and won the decisive set 6-4.

Given the form and the lack of several big names, either due to injury or concerns about the corona pandemic, Djokovic is now an even heavier favorite ahead of the US Open grand slam tournament, which begins on Monday.
