The 'Our Steps Together' Challenge initiative, launched by the UAE Special Olympics, headed by Minister Shamma Al Mazrouei, Minister of State for Youth, has approached its final stage, as there remains a day after the conclusion of the initiative, which was launched on January 19, and aims to reach 52 million steps. Before the closing day, the initiative achieved 45 million steps, and now seven million steps are separated from the target number. The initiative supports people of determination with mental challenges, and is part of the celebration of the 52nd anniversary of the launch of the Olympic movement in 1968.

The last two days of the challenge witnessed a great turnout from Emirati sports stars, as well as foreign participations. The organizers of the challenge expressed their happiness at the approaching number of 52 million steps, in addition to the diversity of the ages of the participants, and everyone's awareness of the humanitarian initiative.

Al Wasl Club swimmer, Nada Al-Ghandour, invited everyone to participate, and expressed her happiness in supporting the challenge. Her colleague, Omar Al-Hammadi, said that he "participated in challenging our steps together to support our brothers of people of determination."

Basma Al Habsi, from the Youth Councils Department at the Federal Youth Foundation, said that out of community participation, the participation of the Foundation's council members came as an important part of supporting the challenge of our steps. Meanwhile, Dima Zahir, a health and nutrition specialist at Danat Al Emarat Hospital, said: We are very happy and proud of the participation of the 30 employees from the hospital, including doctors, specialists and other employees.

Millions of steps remain a day before closing, to achieve the 52 million steps target.
