After 29-year-old Jacob Blake was shot with eight shots in the back by a police officer in the state of Wisconsin, several American athletes have protested. Yesterday and today, several NBA games have been canceled as a protest against police violence against blacks in the United States.

SVT's correspondent Stefan Åsberg talks about a development he has not experienced before in the USA.

- I have not, since I came to this country, experienced that American athletes have taken such a clear political position as is being done right now. We hear testimonies from black athletes that they are afraid to let their children out on the streets. They are now trying to use their influence and their star status to create change in society at large, but it has taken a very long time, says SVT's correspondent Stefan Åsberg in the USA.
