The majority of the races in the World Speedway Championships will be run in Poland, starting Friday night in Wroclaw.

Poland is also Fredrik Lindgren's new base this season, where he lives in Czestochowa and drives for the city's league team Wlokniarz Czestochowa.

But when the World Cup series starts, he is chasing a new World Cup medal in Swedish colors. The recipient of the medal may be gold-colored. Something that would also please the Swedish speedway fans, who have been waiting since 2005 for a new Swedish world champion after Tony Rickardsson.

- I have a stated goal to take World Cup gold during my career, he says to SVT Sport.

Is in good shape

Lindgren is ready for what is to come, where eight competitions will crown a world champion in Torun in early October.

- It feels really fun that everything starts. Eight competitions also feels like fair conditions to nominate a world champion. I look forward to this, says Fredrik Lindgren.

Lindgren is one of the Polish league's leading drivers, where he also meets his biggest competitors regularly.

- I feel in good shape, both physically and mentally. I think I've had a good season so far, and I feel well prepared. We made some changes in the team before the season, and I think it has turned out well, he continues.

Before the competition in Wroclaw, Lindgren and the other World Cup drivers will do a short training session early on Friday, before it is time to start the World Cup season the same evening.
