Finland has severe travel restrictions for Swedes due to the corona pandemic and it was only after the Finnish government granted an exemption that it became the green light for this year's international athletics match between Finland and Sweden.

The competitions will be held this year in Tampere on 5 and 6 September. The Swedish national athletics team will not spend the night in Finland but travel to and from Tampere daily.

- The most likely is that it will be a combination of chartering planes and scheduled flights, or only chartered planes. It will be very much more expensive than buying tickets for scheduled flights, says Larsson.

- A rough guess is around SEK 1 million, but it can get worse or better. In addition to chartered plans, the cost of hotel nights in Stockholm is added and we may have to pay for corona tests. But we are willing to bear that cost.

Larsson believes that it is worth the large cost for Finnkampen to be implemented.

- It is a tradition and has been around since 1925 and is a unique international sport, there is nothing like it. Then in terms of television, we want to make it available to the Swedish people and to our partners.

Finland expects to have an audience in the stands, between 3,000 and 5,000 spectators per day, according to SVT. However, it will be without Swedes due to the quarantine rules.
