As a first step, the cycling association will carry out more and more thorough inspections before and during all major competitions to ensure the safety of the competitors if possible.

Furthermore, the UCI has also decided to implement a safety reform, which includes greater opportunities to punish skiers who do not follow the rules or who expose other skiers to danger.

Perhaps the most notable crash this summer occurred around Poland, when the Dutchman Fabio Jakobsen was forced out over the billboards by competitor Dylan Groenewegen and crashed violently.

Jakobsen, who has recovered, was placed in an artificial coma after the crash, where three more cyclists and an official were injured.
