At the end of June, Christian Prudhomme already explained to 20 Minutes "working with the authorities to have a kind of bubble around the runners". This will also be the case in the mountains, he said on Tuesday: "Filtering will also exist in about twenty climbs and passes without there being a formal number [of spectators] being given".

On 60 points along the route, two tons of hydroalcoholic gel will be reserved for the public who will have to wear a mask "at the start and at the finish of the stages in the areas managed directly by ASO", the organizer, also specified Christian Prudhomme. The 2020 Tour de France, which will therefore start on Saturday in Nice, is 3,484 km long spread over 21 stages.
