Marcus Ericsson started as number eleven in the Indy 500 tonight and hoped to be able to participate and challenge for top places. But it was only 24 laps for him.

He was in eighth place when he crashed into the wall. The car started to burn, but it was not so dramatic. Ericsson got out of the car on its own and looked to have survived unscathed.

The news agency AP writes that he had trouble with the steering and was on his way into the depot. Felix Rosenqvist remains in the Indy 500 in Indianapolis.

The drivers must drive 200 laps.

The race is in progress.
