The President of the Syrian Basketball Federation, Jalal Naqrash, announced his resignation from his post, in a video message that was broadcast on the official page of the federation on the social networking site "Facebook".
Naqrash confirmed, in his speech, that the resignation came in light of the recent television statements made by the head of the General Sports Federation in Syria, Firas Mualla, which Naqrash described as "inaccurate", especially as it contradicted many of the official documents and letters that were sent between Basketball Federation and the Executive Office of the General Sports Federation, which prove the opposite.
Naqarsh said: “The President of the General Sports Federation, Firas Mualla, made several statements, which contained inaccurate information, which must be examined and clarified, starting with Mualla’s talk about not transferring funds for the annual budget of the Basketball Federation due to the absence of an accounting structure in the federation. This is completely inconsistent with the book issued by the General Sports Federation, and it has to sign its president, Firas Mualla, who decided to assign the cadre of accountants to the Basketball Association, and to give it the power to move the bank account and hold the management accountable, "noting that the Basketball Association previously provided the approved and required annual budget, which was made Taking official approval thereof, and that there are no regulatory or accounting reasons hindering the transfer of funds, as stated by Mualla.
Naqrash added: “According to Mualla’s statements, he does not interfere with the work of the Basketball Association, but many documented cases prove the opposite, for example the case of the player Hakam Al-Abdullah, which the Executive Office of the Sports Federation decided to include him without referring to the Basketball Association. , Before the Basketball Association can clarify the situation, and finally a decision that includes amnesty for the player’s case is reversed.
Naqrash pointed to the continuous interventions, especially with regard to the decision of the Game Federation to hold league matches with a specified number of fans, in order to ensure the implementation of precautionary measures to limit the spread of the "Corona" virus, as Naqrash confirmed that the President of the General Sports Federation sent an official letter allowing individuals to enter matches for all matches. Naqarsh referred to the hadith made by "Mualla" about problems in the Basketball Association, and said: "There are no problems in the Basketball Association, and everyone works as one team."
Naqarsh concluded his speech by providing a summary of his career in basketball, his professionalism as a player abroad, then his return to Syria and assuming administrative positions, leading to the presidency of the Game Federation for a period of more than 10 years, in a work process in which he fought corruption and was keen to apply laws to everyone, ending His speech announcing his resignation from his position, and placing him under legal accountability for the period he spent in the Union if necessary.
