Bayern Munich central defender Jérôme Boateng was replaced at half-time in the Champions League semi-final against Lyon (3-0) on Wednesday due to a muscle problem, according to his coach Hansi Flick. "Jérôme had muscle problems, which is why he had to be replaced immediately," said the coach, who brought in Niklas Süle, the young international, in his place.
Süle is not quite ready
No diagnosis was given immediately, but Boateng's absence in the final against PSG would be a handicap for Bayern. Süle, 24, in theory holder of the post, seriously injured his knee in October and did not return to the field until this August in the Champions League. Just entered at the end of the match against Chelsea and then against Barcelona, he has not yet replayed an entire match, and his tenure in the final against Kylian Mbappé would obviously be a bet.
