You won't read a better story this week, even if PSG win the Champions League. Direction Gibralatar, where FC Pristina were scheduled to play a Europa League preliminary round against Lincoln Red Imps FC on Wednesday.

Eight positive players a few hours away from the match

Arrived at their destination with a certificate establishing that the whole team had been negative before leaving, the Kosovar players learned a few hours before the match of the results of the tests carried out by UEFA the day before. No less than eight positive players, and the grim prospect of being disqualified on the green carpet like their compatriots FC Drita the week before, even if there were 14 players still fit to enter the field, one more than what the new UEFA regulations do not require that the match be held. Everyone was sent back to the plane illico presto, and the Gibralatar authorities reassured everyone by explaining that the players from Pristina had not seen anyone during their stay in the country.

A team assembled with the help of rival clubs

But for once, the empathy and goodwill of the various players made it possible to avoid defeat on the green carpet. After discussions with UEFA and with the consent of the Lincoln club, FC Pristina were allowed to return to play on Saturday… on condition that they come without any of the players who had set foot on the end of the British rock.

❗️We can confirm that our @EuropaLeague encounter with @FC_Prishtina will take place at the Victoria Stadium this Saturday, August 22nd, with a 6.00pm kick-off

A constraint quickly assimilated by Pristina, who called on all the other clubs in the country to set up a team urgently! No less than seven rival clubs from the Kosovar first division took part, and the coach of the national U19s, a certain Ramiz Krasniqi, volunteered to coach this makeshift team, which was able to perform "two very positive set-ups since the players know each other a bit given that they play in the same championship ". See you on Saturday around 8 p.m. to find out the results. We will keep you informed.
