Top-tipped Västervik stood at zero points before the Småland derby against Vetlanda.

But here the negative trend was broken.

Took maximum points

In Västervik, the new acquisition Jason Doyle, who was recruited from Rospiggarna before the season, made his debut, and had expectations.

- I have been here a few times in the last five years. It is a good racing track, and I like to drive here, Jason Doyle told SVT Sport before the match.

And that he likes the Västervik line, he showed emphatically.

Doyle drove home a maximum of 15 points on his five appearances during the evening - and was the victory organizer in the home team.

Decided the match

Among other things, he was behind the match-deciding heat victory in heat 12 when Västervik took a points advantage with 5-1 after Doyle won before teammate Anton Karlsson, and gave Västervik an eight point lead in the match. 40 against 32.

When then Sam Masters and Mikkel Bech Jensen followed up that triumph with a new "femetta" in the heat that followed, the season's first victory was in port for Västervik.

Västervik has not won Swedish Championship gold since 2005. But with Doyle in continued top form, the team can become a challenger. Positive for the home team was also that the team's Swedish star Linus Sundström made his best match of the season, with eleven run-in points.

- I'll try, but it's a team sport. But the team that Morgan Andersson and Västervik put together is good. There are many young guys and many difficult heats. But we will give one hundred percent, says Jason Doyle when asked if he can help the club to a new gold.

Vetlanda, who among other things missed Peter Ljung, had a tough time in this match and went on his second straight loss. Swedish junior champion Alexander Woentin became the best scorer with ten run-in points.

With the victory, Västervik stepped past Vetlanda in the table, but is four points behind the undefeated Lions who defeated Rospiggarna by 50-40 and consolidated the league lead.
