Mattias Ekström is one of Sweden's foremost drivers of all time.

It is now clear that Ekström will join the Swedish team KYB Team JC, instead of the Latvian Janis Baumanis, who will not get the finances together for an entire season in the World Cup series due to the corona virus.

"The goal is always to win"

Team manager Joel Christoffersson is very pleased with the new solution.

- Since we got a vacant place in the team before Höljes, I contacted Mattias. He has previously been a guest driver in the team and it feels good that he gets to run the World Cup race at home. Mattias is a reinforcement for the team, and if there is anyone who can drive a car, it is him, says Joel Christoffersson in a press release on the team's website.

Mattias Ekström is looking forward to returning to the World Cup circus.

- My biggest focus will be to have as much fun as possible, but of course it is so that the day I do not dream of winning anymore, I stop competing. The goal is always to win, then we will see what is realistic in terms of conditions, says Mattias Ekström.

Mattias Ekström won the WC series in rallycross 2016 and with his ten partial victories in the WC series, is the second best driver of all time. Ekström also has two titles in the German DTM championship on the merit list.

His latest effort in the World Rallycross Championship is from the race in Belgium last year, when he took eight points.
