The 34-year-old Spaniard, who spent ten years at Manchester City, made his final appearance for the club when the team lost the Champions League semi-final to Lyon.

Now the club announces that they will give him something very special: A statue at the club's home arena Etihad Stadium.

"Is a silent leader"

- David Silva is a quiet leader who has acted quietly and purposefully and inspired everyone around him, from the youngest academy player to his teammates in the first team over the years. He has left an impression on the team, on this club, its history and also the entire Premier League, says the club's chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak on the association's website.

- David's statue will serve as a reminder of the wonderful moments he gave us, not only as a fantastic football player but also as an inspiring ambassador who has represented this football club with great dignity throughout the years.

The statue, just like the previously announced statue of Vincent Kompany, will remain in 2021.
