After four failed throws and "only" 65.26 in the first round, Ståhl got it in the fifth round.

The winning throw measured 68.74 and it was thus the seventh straight competition where the star reached over 68 meters. By comparison, only four other pitchers have been over that limit this year.

- It was fun to compete today. 68.74 is good, it is not a bad result. I am proud of the Swedish Championship gold, he says.

- Two months ago I felt a little rusty, but now it is starting to come back more and more.

Hässelby's Simon Pettersson was second in 64.73 and Malmö's Axel Härstedt took the bronze with 58.77.

The world record in discus is 74.08 and is held by German Jürgen Schult. Daniel Ståhl, who is the reigning world champion, has the Swedish record of 71.86 from last summer.
