Fortuna Sittard has strengthened itself for the new season with Mats Seuntjens. The former AZ and NAC Breda attacker comes over from the Turkish Gençlerbirligi and signs for two years, with an option for a third season.
The 28-year-old Seuntjens, whose brother Ralf plays for De Graafschap, had an expiring contract in Turkey. He played there since last summer and there was no fixed value. He did not score in eighteen games, mainly as a substitute.
"I am happy to be back in the Netherlands", Seuntjens says on the site of his new club. "I want to show myself again in the Eredivisie and I get that chance at Fortuna Sittard. The club is ambitious and has a good plan in place. I am sure that we can help each other in this."
Born from Bredan, Seuntjens played for NAC Breda between 2011 and 2016, where he developed into a basic player. Four years ago, he earned a transfer to AZ, where he was a fixture especially in his last two seasons.
Fortuna has previously recorded goalkeepers Yanick van Osch and Joshua Wehking, defenders Roel Janssen, George Cox and Özgür Aktas and attacker Emil Hansson. The club starts the Eredivisie season on September 12 with an away match against FC Twente.
