The Masers have problems ahead of tonight's league premiere against the Lions. The Russian Federation stops all its drivers from driving in Sweden due to the corona pandemic.

And as if that were not enough for the Avesta club, the German World Cup driver Martin Smolinski is injured, as is the Frenchman David Bellego.

The masses have in recent weeks worked hard to replenish their squad.

- We have been in contact with 8-9 drivers only since yesterday. But we can not sign drivers who we can not afford. We do everything we can, but right now I do not see the light in the tunnel, says Stefan Bäckström.

Critical of the Lion

In tonight's match, they instead pick up untried Alexander Liljekvist in the team and use the rule of riders replacement for Martin Smolinski, to have six drivers in the team line-up. In Masarna, the Swedish World Cup driver Antonio Lindbäck now has to carry a heavy load in tonight's match.

Bäckström also directs harsh criticism at tonight's opponent, Lejonen.

- The Lions have tied up several drivers in their squad, who may not even be allowed to drive. But we can not recruit them or use them as guest drivers, because they have an agreement with the Lions. They also stole Rohan Tungate from us recently, even though we had agreed within ESS (the league organization Elitspeedway Sweden) that we would not recruit in that way, says Stefan Bäckström.

The Masars will play their home premiere on Thursday against the Indians, and hope to be able to replenish their squad by then. If the club does not get any new drivers in the near future, there can be drastic measures.

- We will drive on and hope that it will be resolved, but if we do not get any new drivers, we will have to consider whether we should withdraw from the series, says Stefan Bäckström.
