Yesterday, Jacob Markström played big and kept a clean sheet, when Vancouver got a match ball after 3-0 in the third game against Minnesota.

Last night, however, things went much worse for the Swedish star goalkeeper. Two of the goals he conceded looked anything but unattainable. The first of them, which meant 2-1 to Minnesota, came 13.32 in the first period when Eric Staal from a very small angle found the only gap that was at the left post.

Bounced in goal

The next time Markström turned out to be hollow was late in the second period. With only 51.1 seconds left to play, Nico Sturm came into the attacking zone and threw a shot from the edge that bounced on an unmarked Markström and into goal next to the left post.

Markström's weak interventions did not, however, play a major role. Just over halfway into the third period, Bo Horvat equalized for Vancouver and took the match to extra time.

And it did not last long. Already after eleven seconds, Christopher Tanev threw a puck away from the blue line, which sailed past an obscure Alex Stalock and secured the round of 16 to Minnesota.
