Para-athletic Japan Championship to be held with no audience New Corona infection spread August 7 16:27

Following the spread of the new coronavirus, the Japan Para Athletics Federation has decided to hold the Japan Championship next month with no spectators.

The Para Athletics Japan Championship is one of the Tokyo Paralympic national team selection events that were postponed next year and was scheduled for May this year.

However, due to the effect of the new coronavirus, it will be held in Kumagaya City, Saitama Prefecture for two days from the 5th of next month.

The Japan Para Athletics Federation was continuing to consider whether to hold a tournament, but after thoroughly implementing infection control measures for athletes and related parties, it decided to hold it without an audience.

However, if the spread of infection continues, such as the announcement of an emergency situation in Saitama Prefecture or Tokyo, the event may be cancelled.

Last year's Japan Championship was attended by many top athletes aiming for the Tokyo Paralympics, and nearly 5,000 people visited in two days, but this was an unspectated event.
